CKEditor does not respond and shows "NULL"

Description
CKEditor is unresponsive. And shows content as "NULL". The editor is in a popup modal window (DIV). Screen manipulation is done using jQuery, but no ckeditor jquery plugin.
Firebug shows (@ ckeditor.js (line 72)):

Really hard to understand, as it works for us. Can you provide a test page we can use to reproduce the problem here?
